Peer Learning and Social Connection
Nobody learns this alone. The pilot is built around small circles, senior peer mentors, and shared practice — because confidence grows fastest when you're learning beside people who get it.
What you'll learn
Framework for this focus area.
How circles work
Small groups (roughly 8–12) meet regularly with a facilitator and a senior peer mentor — no lectures, lots of trying things.
Being a peer mentor
What it means to help another senior learn — patience, listening, and sharing what worked for you. Training provided.
Practice labs
Drop-in time to try things you learned, ask questions, and get unstuck — with a mentor nearby and no pressure.
Social time
Coffee, conversation, and connection built into every session — this is a program, not a classroom.
Sharing what you learn
Bringing one small tip back to a spouse, neighbour, or grandchild — spreading confidence beyond the room.
Community showcase
A final session where the circle shares what they built, what changed, and what should come next.
What we'll practice together
Hands-on activities.
- Meet your circle and set shared ground rules
- Pair up with a peer mentor for a hands-on task
- Run a 'teach one thing you learned' round-table
- Contribute to the community feedback session at week 8
You'll leave with
Tangible takeaways.
- A small circle of people you actually know and trust
- Confidence gained through doing, not just watching
- The option to continue as a peer mentor in future cohorts
- A shared voice in how the next pilot is shaped
A quick note
This is not a support group or counselling. It's a friendly learning circle — if deeper support is needed, we'll help point to appropriate community services.
